How to Clean Your Flow Hood

A laminar flow hood is a critical piece of equipment used in a variety of industries such as pharmaceutical, biotechnology, microbiology, and mycology. It is used to create a sterile work environment by directing filtered air over the workspace to minimize contamination.

Cleaning your FloCube flow hood and work area helps to maintain a consistent environment for your cultivation process.

By implementing a regular cleaning routine and following best practices for maintaining a sterile environment, you can help to maximize the success of your cultivation efforts. Here are some steps to follow for cleaning your FloCube flow hood and work area:

#1 Turn off the flow hood:

Before starting the cleaning process, turn off the flow hood and unplug it from the power source. This will prevent any accidents while cleaning.

#2 Remove any materials from the work area:

Clear any materials or other equipment from the work area, including petri dishes, tools, or other items that may have been used during your work.

#3 Clean the exterior:

Use a clean microfiber cloth to wipe down the exterior of the hood, including the rear panel, the sides, and top of the hood. We recommend using 70% isopropyl alcohol as the preferred cleaning agent. This solution is effective in killing most bacteria and viruses and is safe for use on the surface of the laminar flow hood.

#4 Do not clean the HEPA filter:

It is important to note that for the type of HEPA filter installed on FloCube flow hoods, you should not use any cleaning agents to clean the HEPA filter.

In fact, this type of HEPA filter does not need to be cleaned under normal circumstances.

The only time that you would need to clean the HEPA filter would be in the case of a spill. Otherwise, we advise against cleaning the HEPA filter as it could damage the filter and reduce its efficiency.

#5 Clean the clean booth:

If you have a FloCube clean booth installed on your FloCube flow hood, clean the ceiling of the clean booth first, back to front, working your way left to right. Wipe the upper edges and back corners. Pay particular attention to any corners or crevices where dust and debris can accumulate.

#6 Clean the table:

Wipe the surface of the table, making sure to cover the entire surface and all edges.

Proper cleaning of your FloCube flow hood is crucial to maintaining a clean and sterile workspace.
